Bermuda (fully, The Bermuda Islands, alias The Somers Isles) is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom in the North Atlantic Ocean, situated around 640 miles off the coast of the United States. The oldest remaining British overseas territory, it was settled by England a century before the creation of the British state, and two centuries before the United Kingdom. Although commonly referred to in the singular, it consists of around 138 islands, of total area 58.8 square kilometres.
Many people mistakenly believe Bermuda island is part of the Caribbean. In fact, Bermuda rest hundreds of miles north of the Bahamas in an astoundingly beautiful stretch of the Atlantic. A mere 1046KM / 650MI east of North Carolina, flights from New York and other eastern US cities reach Bermuda shores in less than two hours.
Extraordinarily pleasant weather and a distinctive islandscape make you love Bermuda. Bermuda islands feature spectacular beaches, lush vegetation and unique wildlife.
Pink sand exists in only a few places worldwide. Bermuda boasts some of the boldest displays of this revered coastal colour, lapped by our dazzling turquoise waves. Absolute poetry.
