Long Island is a sixty-mile long island in the Bahamas that is split by the Tropic of Cancer. The island is only about four miles wide, but a road spans most of the length. Long Island is about 150 miles southeast of Nassau. Some of the main settlements are Clarence Town, Deadman's Cay, and Scrub Hill. Long Island is one of the Districts of the Bahamas.
Long Island is known by wide and shallow sand beaches, high cliffs in the north, native caves, historic plantation ruins and Spanish churches. It is also the site of the saltworks of the Diamond Crystal Company.
Cape Santa Maria Bay and Beach
Unquestionably, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with pure-white, powdery sand, stretching about three miles.
While soft beaches greet the water on the west coast, rocky cliffs rise from the shore on the east. That said, words are inadequate.
