Snorkelling is an important activity in Puerto Morelos because the reef is so close to shore and is being cared for by all of us. Snorkelling is a wonderful way to introduce you to the beauty of the region. Puerto Morelos provides guided reef tours pointing out items and areas of interest in the reef we know so well.
- Fishing:
Some of the best fishing in the Caribbean is available in Puerto Morelos, the annual fishing tournaments in Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel attest to that. You can visit all the best spots in the area and will take out past the reef in a boat rigged for fishing and provided with cool drinks.
- Horseback Riding:
There are several options for horseback riding nearby. One is within a 15 minute drive. The costs vary as to what all you sign up for an estimate is around $40USD for a ride. There are rides into the jungle as well as on the beach. Another trip goes only into the jungle, includes lunch and a swim in a cenote (fresh water spring) and costs $75USD per person for half day. There is no place to rent horses and ride by oneself. You can sign up for trips at the travel agency in Puerto Morelos.
Night Life:
Puerto Morelos nights can be peaceful, quiet, romantic evenings... If you're lucky to be in Puerto Morelos during the full moon, don't miss the full moon celebrations. There are some small bars in town, normally all the bars here close at 12 pm.
Transportation:
Most accommodations in Puerto Morelos are within walking distance of the town center so a vehicle is usually not necessary for getting around.Many of the attractions in the Riviera Maya do require some form of transportation to get to them. The main options are rental car, taxi, local buses or private transportation services.
